Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Official Mohammad Sa'idi: We Plan to Build More Nuclear Plants

Following is an excerpt from an interview with Mohammad Sa'idi, International Affairs Deputy in the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, which aired on Jaam-e Jam 2 TV on March 13, 2007:

Mohammad Sa'idi: Two plans are on the agenda of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, headed by Aghazadeh. The first plan was to achieve the technological of a nuclear fuel cycle within eight years, and Allah be praised, today we have achieved this technology. We are on the verge of industrial production of this highly important and complex technology.

The second stage, which was of great importance for us, is to achieve the technology for building nuclear reactors. Despite the complexities of this subject, which are well known to us and to our experts, and despite the fact that we are aware of the obstacles in our path, we have reached the conclusion that this technology is no more complex than the technology of the nuclear fuel cycle.

Just as we reached independence in this field, our next plan is to place the construction of nuclear reactors on our agenda, and to execute this plan. I should point out that this plan has already begun, and it has undergone some successful stages.
