Mustafa Yassin, Uncle and Father-in-Law of Hassan Nasrallah: Martyrdom Is the Path and Door to Life

Following are excerpts from an interview with Mustafa Yassin, uncle and father-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah, which aired on Al-Kawthar TV, on July 28, 2007:

Mustafa Yassin: I have always wished to become a martyr, and to seal my life with martyrdom. I still hope... Since death is inevitable, it is a disgrace to die a coward. If a man dies as a martyr, it is the most honorable death. After all, death is inevitable.

Interviewer: Do you think that martyrdom is the path to life?

Mustafa Yassin: Martyrdom is not only the path to life – it is the door to life. Martyrdom is life. The martyr is born in his martyrdom. At the time of martyrdom, the martyr is reborn.

Interviewer: In light of what you said, how did you receive the news about the martyrdom of your grandson, Hadi Nasrallah?

We received the news of his martyrdom with both joy and sadness – with sadness because of the loss of a loved one, which is difficult. However, when the loved on who is lost is a martyr, one should not regret his departing, beyond the aspect of the emotions of the parents.
