Following are excerpts from an interview with Lebanese Minister of Communications Marwan Hamada, which aired on Future TV on March 26, 2008:

Marwan Hamada: What we see before our eyes is a fascist spectacle.

Interviewer: What spectacle are you referring to?

Marwan Hamada: Compare the demonstrations of the March 14 coalition to those of the opposition. Put aside Michel Aoun and his supporters. What you witness [in demonstrations of Hizbullah] resembles Nuremburg, Rome, or Milan in the 1930s. This is the spectacle that dragged entire societies into futile wars, and led to the destruction of nations and societies.

Interviewer: You are no longer criticizing their political conduct. Now you are criticizing an entire sect. You accuse them of being led blindly, without even thinking...

Marwan Hamada: It's not an entire sect. Not all the Italians were fascists. Half of them were Communists. When freedom returned to Italy, the Communist Party received 30% of the votes in the first elections. The Christian Democratic Party received 25% of the votes. I am talking about dragging societies into choices that are completely divorced from the society as a whole and from the state.
