Egyptian Intellectual Tal'at Rmeih: Arab Liberals "Have a Satanic Way of Thinking"

The following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian Intellectual Tal'at Rmeih, aired by Al-Jazeera TV on April 27, 2005.

Rmeih: Where did all these (liberals) come from? This is very strange, brother. Pardon my language, but they busted our butts in jail, we were humiliated, beaten, and tortured, yet we never heard of these people. Suddenly, one of them pops up, and all the Western media flock around him... If he gets arrested, nobody even says a word to him, but suddenly Ms. Condoleezza is talking about him, and even before her Mr. Powell was talking about him. They pop up like devils from under the ground, and they really do have a Satanic way of thinking. Who cultivates this Satanic seed? We were surprised. When they so much as laid a finger on Sa'd Al-Din Ibrahim... Laid a finger... The entire world was up in arms. When Ayman Nur said two words, although nobody had ever heard of him, the entire world was up in arms. Who are these "new Arab liberals," as they call themselves? First of all, I don't call them "new Arab liberals." I call them the "new pro-Zionist Arabs."

Let me tell you what someone like Shaker Al-Nabulsi says. You may have noticed something strange. Can you imagine a more Islamic name than Shaker? Sa'd Al-Din Ibrahim - this is unbelievable! This is unbelievable. It's as if all these names were handpicked. What does Al-Nabulsi say about the Koran? About the Koran! "In the Koran there are conflicting views about many events and other religions." Underline the word "Judaism" a thousand times! Everything pan-Arab, patriotic, or relating to Islam is defamed "Shock and Awe" style - by the same method used by the American forces when they tried to shock the citizens, so that they would hold the Americans in awe.

People are afraid. If someone says, "I am pan-Arab," he is told, "Then you're a pan-Arab nationalist and a fascist." This is a real media war, planned by the American and Zionist intelligence. This is a first-class intelligence operation.
