Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani on Iran's Space Activities

The following are excerpts from an interview with Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani, which aired on Iranian Channel 2 on July 23, 2005. Shamkhani: In the past eight years, the Defense Ministry has entered the fourth dimension of defense. Previously, we operated in air, land, and sea. In these eight years, we have entered the fourth dimension - space. Significant steps have been made in the fields of reception stations, control, launching, launch pads, and satellite tracking. The Defense Ministry has used special personnel and scientific centers. This is a launching pad for the Defense Ministry in order to meet the needs of the armed forces in space.
