Reform
This project monitors advocates of reform in the Arab and Muslim world and the obstacles

they face in advancing their cause. The goal of this project is to provide reformists with a platform from which they can reach out to their societies and religious, political, and educational leaders while also providing Western policy makers with a solid basis for long-tem strategic plans aimed at supporting this effort. MEMRI has provided a platform for activists in areas including: social reform and civil society; reform in state education and political systems; women's rights; the impact of Arab reformists in their own countries; pro-reform conferences and petitions; and criticism of extremist mainstream Muslim clerics. Since its founding in February 1998, MEMRI has established itself as a leader on the issue of reform in the Arab and Muslim world. MEMRI has translated into English thousands of pages and hundred of hours of TV from Arab and Iranian advocates of reform.

Antisemitism Documentation

Antisemitism in the Arab world and Iran has evolved rapidly in recent years from various sources: Islamic origins,

going so far as to call for killing Jews in sermons and in the media; European libels and stereotypes; and drawing heavily on Nazi propaganda. This phenomenon has become a major catalyst of antisemitic incidents in the West. This project documents Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish newspaper reports, editorials, and other media sources on antisemitic themes, as well as expressions in the Arab and Muslim world against antisemitism. This project’s archives, which consist of thousand of pages of translations of articles from the Arab and Iranian press and hundreds of hours of footage from the MEMRI TV Project. MEMRI’s Antisemitism Documentation Project maintains the largest archives in the world of translated Arabic and Farsi material on antisemitism from the past decade.

Jihad & Terrorism

The threat of militant-Islamic terrorist organizations operating in the United States has become a reality.

In response, MEMRI has established a Jihad and Terrorism Studies Project to monitor militant-Islamic groups that educate and preach Jihad and martyrdom in mosques, school systems, and in the media. This project will also focus on individuals and radical Islamist organizations, sermons and religious rulings (fatwas) and reactions to terrorist attacks both in the U.S. and abroad. As part of this project MEMRI has introduced the Islamist Website Monitor Initiative that monitors over 60 of most important terrorist websites.
